Adoption Support Agency Registered with OFSTED

The Adoption Process

As an OFSTED registered Adoption Support Agency, I accept referrals from local authorities for adoption support work. I am familiar with all aspects of the adoption process, both through my therapeutic work and other work that I undertake.

Adults Who Were Adopted

I have extensive experience supporting adopted adults who were relinquished or removed from their parents' care in their early lives. I am sometimes approached by the adoptees themselves, and have also had referrals from Local Authority Adoption Agencies. I find that people are particularly vulnerable when they are seeking reunion with a member of their birth family, or have already been reunited and have been overwhelmed by conflicting emotions.

Birth Mothers

I have experience of working both with mothers who have relinquished their babies, and those who have been unable to care for them.

Prospective adopters

I offer a safe place for people (individuals and couples) who are struggling with the adoption assessment process. I can help them explore their feelings about their own attachments. This work is usually short fixed term work, and I do not offer long term work with couples.

Confidentiality and Venues

Confidentiality is important and I am bound by the UKCP Code of Practice. For this reason I am unable to write reports on people that I see, but am able to give an idea of clients' progress in understanding their feelings, with their consent. I see clients in my consulting room, but can travel to local authority premises to see them if this is safer or more convenient.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or email if you would like to ask any questions, refer a client, or discuss any aspect of my work.
